What this web site is about.

I have always had a fascination with cemeteries.  It's not about death, but how the headstones and monuments record our history.  Over time I have noticed some memorials that stand out from the usual grave markers.  Here I share them with you.

Crowded grave area

Looks like the family wanted many Angels watching over their boy.

Unusual name

Headstone
I don't think I've ever met a Vernice before. It appears he died in World War 2.

Sounds like a popular guy

Picture of Headstone
Seen in Hubbard, TX.

Metal Sculpture

Picture
I saw this cool little metal sculpture next to a grave in central Texas.  There was no explanation near it, but it was obviously placed there deliberately.

Infant Outlaw

Picture
I am always saddened by a child grave, but this one caught me off-guard.

Texas Ranger Marker

Picture
Texas Ranger Graves have a special marker added to them.  This one is for A. (Ahijah) W. Grimes, a Ranger killed in the line of duty in Round Rock, TX.
